THE TERRAHAWK STORY

Terrahawk’s CEO and founder, Daniel Horne, has an incredibly strong legacy in the civil contracting industry going back several generations.
Daniel’s Grandfather, Frank Horne started Frank Horne Construction Company, in 1969, after working his way up to superintendent for Harbert Construction Company out of Birmingham, Alabama. Frank’s first jobs were digging farm ponds and irrigation ditches with his second-hand Bucyrus Erie 25B Drag Line that he pieced together from 2 different salvaged machines.
Kenny Horne (Daniel’s Father), joined the family business after returning from the US Coast Guard in 1979 and helped his dad build the company into one of the leading utility construction companies in southeast North Carolina. In 1995, Kenny opened Horne and Son Construction, Inc. where he mainly focused on commercial site work, while Frank Horne Construction continued with large utility jobs. Frank Horne Construction is still in business and partners with Terrahawk on utility projects.

Daniel grew up in the family business, and doesn’t even remember a time when he wasn’t operating heavy equipment. He worked for his father throughout high school and college, which gave him a solid foundation to build his career on.
Daniel founded Terrahawk, LLC in 2015. He decided to branch off from his father’s long-established business (Horne and Son Construction, Inc) to create his own company and expand into the booming Raleigh, NC market. In 2017, two years after its inception, Terrahawk, LLC purchased the assets of Horne and Son Construction and brought Kenny Horne on as an Executive Vice President to help oversee field operations.
